The Truth Regarding Prostitution

Posted By The Samuelson Law Firm || 8-Jun-2012

Prostitution. The word has many connotations surrounding it and often provokes dynamic discussions regarding ethics and the law. Prostitution is not an uncommon practice and can occur in many surprising places. In 2001 it was estimated that there were a total of more than forty million prostitutes world-wide.

States like Nevada have not completely outlawed prostitution, but the majority of States consider it a criminal offense. Sites such as Prostitution.procon.org provide many helpful facts on national and state-wide laws regarding prostitution. Many States enforce hard-hitting consequences on prostitutes, when apprehended by the police.

Recently, a news story was published about a church called Phoenix Goddess Temple that offered prostitution services. An investigation into the 'Temple' led to the arrests of twenty women and also several men who worked there. The brothel brought in tens of thousands of dollars a month. The leader of the ring was apprehended by police and charged with illegal control of an enterprise, pandering, and operating a house of prostitution.

If you have been charged with prostitution, the best thing you can do is contact a criminal defense lawyer for help and information immediately. Regardless of your age or what form of prostitution you were involved in, you can receive professional assistance from Samuelson Law Firm. We are a Colorado Springs defense firm that wants to help.
